Piccola Toscana, grande cuore (big heart for the non-bilingual). There are so many Italian restaurants to choose from in the capital, it’s sometimes hard to travel just with your test buds to this country you think you know. But if you want a truly authentic Italian experience, I’d recommend one of my favorites this year: Piccola Toscana.
In this small restaurant with just 25 covers, with its rough charm and subdued atmosphere, you’ll be greeted by the manager as if at a family meal: smiles, jokes and warmth are the order of the day here! He’ll even tell you stories about his father, who drank nothing but chianti (a wine I recommend, it was delicious). When it’s time to choose, I go for the papardelle alla bolognese, a simple but excellent dish when well prepared. And I can tell you I enjoyed it. The real plus of this restaurant? The homemade pasta, which really makes a difference!
Yes, it may seem a bit expensive for pasta, but Piccola Toscana takes you on a real journey, away from your panzani pasta with pesto rosso. What’s more, the restaurant is perfect for a date!
